Pelican Rouge aims to deliver the best coffee in the world, with the understanding that providing the best coffee hinges on the best people, process and product all working together. Introducing sustainable practices – from waste management to energy recovery – has been an essential component to integrating sustainability into Pelican Rouge’s overall operations and has made the goal of producing coffee sustainably into a reality. To continue supporting the growth of sustainable coffee, Pelican Rouge is looking to increase global education on sustainable practices and support the next generation of coffee producers.

Our Commitments

By 2019, we aim to have implemented a soil improvement program that will help coffee farmers in the region to better understand the relation between soil, nutrition and coffee quality. This multi-party cooperation in Bamenda Cameroon will address 3 key focus areas: 1) enhance sustainable agronomical practices and processing; 2) improve of work and living conditions of coffee farmers; and 3) build the organizational development and governance.

Pelican Rouge Coffee Roasters commits to be net zero, from farm to cup. For scope 1 and 2 emissions, our goal is to become climate neutral by 2030. For scope 3 emissions directly connected to our coffee supply chain, our aim is to be climate neutral by 2040. Through the Selecta coffee fund, we aim to actively reduce and compensate CO2 at the coffee farm level.
