Statement of support

"Costa Rica has for long been a pioneer in sustainability, and coffee production is no exception. The Costa Rica Coffee Institute (ICAFE), founded in 1933, not only regulates and encourages all the coffee activities, but is also a source of innovation, investigation and technological development in commitment with the environment and all the coffee sectors of Costa Rica. Empowered by the Costa Rican legal system, ICAFE also makes sure that the producers get the biggest share of the FOB price. It is with great honor that ICAFE takes part in the Sustainable Coffee Challenge, together with so many respectable organizations worldwide, to ensure sustainability along the whole coffee chain. We’re a small country, but with big ideas.” Marrio Arroyo Uder, Costa Rica Coffee Institute (ICAFE)
